Anchor Hocking's Fire King and More , 1st Ed.
Florence, Gene
Collector Books, 1998. 223 pages. ISBN: 1574320440.
Retail: $24.95

This book, as stated on the cover, is an "Identification and value guide" to Anchor Hocking's Fire-King, Early American Prescut, and Wexford lines. The book contains three major sections. The first, and by far the largest, lists items by pattern. The second by item type such as ashtrays and mixing bowls. The third lists ovenware. There are many reprints of catalog pages and page after page of color photos by Richard Walker and Charles R. Lynch. The Acknowledgement and Preface at the beginning of the book are a "must read".

I bought this book primarily for the Wexford and Early American Prescut sections, but have been getting much more use of the Fire-King sections than I anticipated. I enjoy Florence's "folksy" writing style and he does a good job of covering such a large subject. If you are a collector of a specific Fire-King pattern you'll probably find this book a bit lacking in details, but as a general Fire-King reference I highly recommend it.
